The Antenna Interface Unit for the CTI-850 Satellite Antenna Control System is intended to be used with a Model CTI-851 or CTI-854 Satellite Antenna Controller.  The AIU is housed in a weatherproof housing for installation near the antenna.

The AIU performs the following functions:

·         It provides the motor drive voltages.  Standard AIUs are available for three motor voltages: 24 volts DC,  36 volts DC, or: 115 volts AC.   The maximum permissible current per motor is four amperes.

·
It provides an auxiliary 24-volt DC output voltage to operate an external speed-control relay.  This output can be used only if the antenna is physically equipped for dual-speed operation.

·
It monitors the output of the position sensors and transmits this information to the Control Unit.

The AIU is connected to the Control Unit over a cable called the "AIU Serial Link" or ASL:

The standard ASL consists of a single run of coaxial cable.  Up to four AIUs can be connected to a Model    CTI-854 Control Unit via separate runs of coaxial cable.

On special order, ASLs can be implemented with RS-232 links, RS-422 links, or a fiber-optic link.
